I Elfed Us

I know I've been posting quite a bit, but I have to show you one more thing. What I am about to show you seemed to be going through the internet all day yesterday because I know so many people who did it. After elfing most of my family members, here is the best one. I love how perfect Micah and Dad are. heehee http://www.elfyourself.com/?id=1487768499 Go ahead and elf yourself. It's more fun than you might think. I've watched it so many times and can't stop giggling when I watch it. Merry Christmas!

My 70's Ski Hat for Joel

Christmas is coming and that means Joel is coming from the South to the North. I had been thinking (and someone had been hinting) that a hat would be really helpful. I hadn't found a patten that I really liked, but I came across this one (that is a link even though it didn't change color this time) a few days ago. It seemed perfect because every time I put on my hat and scarf to leave the house, my mom tells me I look like Ali MacGraw in the movie from the 70's called "Love Story". We might as well match, right? I knitted the entire thing in under 24 hours because we were a bit snowbound this past weekend. I didn't have the type of yarn it called for, but did have some nice wool yarn that wanted to be a hat for the head of someone special. ;) It came out a bit big, and I was very glad I had knit it out of wool. It felted up nicely, and I think it will fit Joel rather well. I made a few changes to the pattern, and if you would like to know what they are just leave me a comment.

The hat before felting.
Yep...it's too big.
At this point I was really hoping that it felted, but if it didn't, I figured that I could always turn it the other way and use it as a teapot cozy. Hmm...
Ah, yes. It worked!

Here Comes Santa Clause and Suckers

On Saturday we went out to run a few errands and got back just in time to see the annual visit of Santa on the fire truck. Sebastian was a little scarred because they had the sirens running, (to get folks to come out of their homes) but managed to keep a stiff upper lip long enough to get a sucker from a friendly elf.

Look who's coming down the street.
It's Santa Claus

Getting a sucker
Yesterday, Emma let him have a couple of licks.
He really seemed to enjoy it.

Some Random Pictures and Blogger is Being Weird

A Post of Pillow

The past couple of days I have been making pillows for my future apartment. A few days after arriving, Joel took me to the fabulous fabric store to get material for them. Emma has been a huge help! She even drew the bird on the one pillow for me to embroider. Thanks, Emma! I've been knitting the cable pillow for awhile now, and am SO happy how it turned out. Some vintage buttons from an antique store in the area completed it nicely. Emma let me borrow a pillow form so I could see what it looked like completed. I wish I could stuff and finish the rest of them, but could never fit them on the plane home with me that way. :)

This one needs some solid border and some brown cording before it is finished
I think this one is my favorite
