A Weekend With Family

On Friday were very thrilled to have my Aunt Shelly cousin April and Zack come to visit us for the weekend. In their typical fashion of travel we did tons of stuff in a very short period of time. We had a wonderful time even though we burned up in the convertible with the top down. You just shouldn't do that when it is 95 outside.

In front of Grauman's Chinese Theater
Shirley Temple was really little when they did her foot prints.

Shelly was glad that her feet were smaller than those of Will Smith

Jimmy Stewart

Here we are cruising around Beverly Hills trying to look cool, when in reality we made a LOT of people honk and get mad at us because we had no clue where we were going. Not so cool.

April likes to pose by statuesWe drove and drove around trying to find the homes of famous people. What we found out is that famous people like to have tall shrubbery around their homes and big fences. What's up with that? April and I decided that if we were famous, we would sit on the lawn and wave to tourists. Here is the home of Lucielle Ball. We were happy she didn't have a fence. :)
The home of Rosemary Clooney. They say her kids liked to sell lemonade to the tourists to make money in the summer
Some pretty flowers

On Saturday we left early in the morning to go to Santa Monica before Shelly, April, and Zack had to leave. Early morning was the perfect time of day to be there because as we were leaving it was getting very hot and crowded. Joel and I think we should got to the beach a lot because the high where we live was 104 and by the ocean it was only 84! What a difference!

Watching the waves

They were pretending to by on Bay Watch

We think this was a jelly fish, but we never did find out for sure. Some guy was throwing them back into the water, but I'm pretty sure they were dead.
We saw about 10 dolphins while we were sitting on the beach. If you look close you can see one. We were a bit disappointed that they didn't jump up into the air like at Sea World so we could get a better view.
Shelly found a big beetle, so we all took pictures of it
The beetle
As we were enjoying the fresh air, a plane flew overhead with a sign telling us that we could be having a "Better Summer" if we went to Best Buy. We were a bit shocked at such commercialism right over the ocean. lol
Waiting for our food at Buppa Gumps
Zack and all the shrimp he ordered

So fun!!! I especially like the picture taken from the water up towards the shore. The buildings and palm trees look so "California". 104 degrees - that's no way to get people to want to come and visit!
