First off, here is today's belly shot. Joel was too busy to take my picture, so I tried to do it myself. The lighting isn't too good, but you get the idea. We have just under 3 weeks to go! Yesterday we had a doctor appointment and an ultrasound and everything is looking good.

The rest of this post is about all the things I've been knitting for Oliver lately. I decided to make myself a list last week, so I would get a little motivation to cross things off the list. I actually finished quite a few projects because of this, but they were mainly the little projects.

Here is the beginning of my Log Cabin Blanket for baby. The pattern is from Mason-Dixon Knitting, but there really isn't much of a pattern. Just cast on, knit for awhile, cast off, turn, pick up stitches, knit for awhile....and so on and so forth. I ordered yarn from Knit Picks for this project, and I have a feeling there will be a lot left over so I'm having fun thinking up things to make with the extra yarn. The back of this blanket won't be so pretty, but there isn't much I can do about that and I've decided to find the ridges from picking up stitches charming. :)

Next is a hat and socks that I finished up this week. I was almost done making them when I realized that they matched the "Little Acorn" clothes I got on clearance from Janie and Jack. Hopefully the socks aren't too big because they have quite a bit of stretch in them. We shall see.

Next are some balls I knitted. I made them quite awhile ago, (hence they aren't on the recent knitting list) but just realized that I never posted a picture. Alice tells me the orange and white one looks like Nemo, but I prefer to think it looks like a creamsicle.

Last, but certainly not least, is the Blue Cable Blanket. I can hardly imagine how many hours I have put into this one, and can't quite remember what possessed me to cast on a cable blanket with fingering yarn on size 3 needles. I think each cable set is about an hour of knitting. (AND I KNIT FAST!!!) There are still nearly 2 skeins of yarn left, but it is starting to seem big enough. Right now I am more excited about the log cabin blanket, but I need to keep making myself knit on this one. (Oh, and the bottom edge will lay nice and flat after a good blocking.)

Close up of the cables.

Oh, what deliciousness! Isn't it fun to prepare for baby? The knitted log cabin blanket is very unique and fun.
Major wow. You should be so proud of all this, Martha.
You amaze me! Makes me wonder why I am sitting here working on something for Oliver. What can I possibly do that you couldn't do yourself?
Um...the quilt you are making him! I could never make it as nice as you. Plus the idea of him being wrapped up in something from his Grandma makes me cry. Though most things do lately. I started crying when I was watching "That Girl" last night. :) Oh, dear!
"That Girl" made you cry? Oh dear is right!
Oh, lovely knitting projects! Good idea to make a list like that too, with the yarn next to it. And great job on the cable blanket!!!
I think the log cabin blanket looks fine...either I'm not seeing the ridges, or they look they should be there. :D Nice colors too.
Where'd you find the pattern for the knitted balls? Those look like fun.
