The 90 Minute Shirt

After finding a tutorial for the 90 minute shirt on Friday night I was inspired to make Oliver one over the weekend. The first one I made out of an old t shirt, but it ended up being a bit too small. I was in too much of a hurry when I enlarged the pattern, so the second shirt was a flop. I guess the third time was the charm because below are photos of the third shirt I made. There was enough fabric left over to make him a hat too. Pardon the abundance of pictures, but I couldn't help myself. I think blue is definitely Oliver's color.

Not sure if Joel would condone the lens cap playing, but he was getting squirmy and I had more photos to take.

I guess it is yummy.
We are still working on our sitting skill. The Boppy is there to help soften the tumbles.

Today is Shot

Well, not really, but it is shot day. Oliver had his 6 month check up this morning. The appointment was delayed a bit, so technically it was a 7 month check up. He had three shots and didn't even cry after the first one, but by the second and third he had started. He fell asleep as soon as we got in the car and hardly woke up when we got home so I put him down and he had a nice long nap. After he woke up I took these pictures. He seems to be back to his old self already. I hope it lasts the rest of the day.
He got a band-aid on each thigh.

Right after I finished taking these pictures he pulled one of his band-aids off. I guess he doesn't like the Tasmanian Devil very much. :)

Puzzle Ball

As you can see I am not doing very well with my color week. Alas. My post for Tuesday about the color orange didn't work out, and I lost my motivation. On with something else though...

This morning I was talking to my mother and mentioned that I would make Oliver a puzzle ball if I had quilting pins. She informed me that it wasn't necessary to have the said pins in order to make one. My pattern was indeed mistaken because I completed the ball this evening without help from a single quilting pin. I must say it was a fun little project, but took a lot longer then I thought it would. You can't tell from the photos, but the darker fabric has little mice on it and little pieces of orange cheese. It was love at first sight for Oliver.

Here is Oliver checking out the ball.
He chased it around on the floor for quite some time.

After that we tried playing with it sitting up. He is getting pretty good at sitting, but we still have a head injury every once in a while if I'm not quick enough to break the fall with my hand.

He didn't really want to break from playing for a kiss, but I did.

All that playing made him tired. Ha! If only that were true.

A Week of Colors: Red

My child is only 7 months old, but he already has a favorite color. Seriously folks it's true. When he was first starting solids he would get bored after the first couple of bites. If I switched to his red spoon he would eat and eat and eat. Below are his favorite toys. As you can see he is pretty easy to please. Since we've been sick the past week or so, I thought he needed some new red toys. I knitted up the bird, and also made the tabby red square. It has a wipes container inside to make it crinkle. When I first gave it to him, he loved it so much that he started shaking from delight.

On the more boring side, here are my shoes. When I was thinking about buying them I wasn't sure if my staple pair of shoes should be red, but Joel assured me that it would be okay. It usually is unless I am wearing orange.

Anybody There?

Oliver and I were wondering if anybody still checks this blog. I really want to get back into the swing of blogging again, so I thought I would start with a week of colors. A post a day centered around a color. Very easy, very doable. I think. Check for another post later today featuring todays color. This is not a great picture of me. Probably because I had just finished sauteing onions for French Dip sandwiches.

Mmm...It will be worth in though in about 7-9 hours.
Here a photo of the boy. He doesn't usually use the baby pacifiers, but I pulled them out to show cousin Thomas on the webcam, and he's been playing/sucking them every since. He is becoming quite the crawler. He doesn't move around on all fours yet, but he slides around rather quickly on his belly. Especially if he spots a phone cord or computer cord within reach.
