ca. 1940, East Sheen, UK --- The Busy Bees. An East Sheen man and his wife, Mr. and Mrs W.Bone, wanted to do their bit towards winning the war, so they decided to form a children's knitting circle. A number of girls of school age were brought together and they have completed blankets, mittens, scarves and helmets, many of which have already gone overseas. The girls who have become known as the Busy Bees, each contribute a penny weekly towards the cost of the wool. Photo: Mr and Mrs Bone with thirty of their little "Busy Bees", busy knitting comforts.
