Oliver Meets Paula Deen

Tonight at our local Barnes and Noble. there was a discussion and book signing with Paula Deen and her husband. We didn't get a seat, but happened to be standing right where they came out and she touched Oliver on her way by.
Here they come!
In this picture she is about to catch sight of Oliver.
She broke away from her security guards, and bent over to talk to Oliver. Her husband said, "Oh, a little sweet pea!" We'll never wash his hat again!
We then moved to the back of the crowd, but couldn't really see or hear anything, so we decided to go home.
There she is in the far left window on the second story.

Morning Diaper Change

This morning while I changed Oliver's diaper, he played with Sophie giraffe.

This is a very typical pose of Oliver these days. I think he plays with Sophie several hours everyday.
He toes are usually curled around each other too.

Oliver's Exersaucer!

Last night we went out and bought Oliver an exersaucer/jumper. We don't have a doorway that will fit a Johnny Jump-Up, so we thought this would be a good compromise. We set it up when we got home and he loves it! I think he is a little small, but we put some blankets around him and they work just great.
Despite all the flashy toys surounding him, he wanted to suck on Sophie giraffe.
Watching himself suck on Sophie in the mirror.
His feet don't quite reach the floor, so we propped him up on our IKEA tool box.

A very content Oliver.

Oliver's Baptism

Yesterday was Oliver's baptism. After church we had a picnic lunch in Pasadena with some other families whose babies were also baptized yesterday. I have a video to post also, but we'll see if it works.

Us with Fr. Rob.

Giraffe Friends

I discovered that Oliver has a lot of giraffe friends. His most recent addition is one that I made him from a new sewing book I got for my birthday last week. It has a skinny neck, so it is easy for him to hold on to.

Here are the rest of his giraffe friends.
He likes to hug them all at once.

And he also likes to stuff them all into his mouth.

Tummy Time for Oliver

Sorry for the absence of posting on this blog. Life's been a little busy. Today Oliver did so well at his "tummy time" that I took pictures to document it and thought it deserved a post. Normally he gets frustrated really quickly, but today it was a good 15 minutes before he got mad. :) Below are some photos of his accomplishments.

My cheeks are sagging to the floor. :)

This is hard work!

Maybe if I fold my hands it will be easier.

Photos of the Week

I have no time to type much today, but I thought it was time to show you some more pictures of Oliver. We are all doing really well. Oliver had his 2 week check-up this week. He is gaining weight splendidly, and seems to be a very healthy baby. Our biggest news is that last night we got almost 8 hours of sleep!!!

Oliver Gets His First Sponge Bath

The other evening Oliver got his very first sponge bath. I'm not sure if we did everything correctly, but he smelled so yummy by the end that we must have done something right. :) He slept through most of it, and hardly even fussed until the very end.

This little foot has a very familiar feel to it. Although I much prefer feeling it on the outside of my body, instead of trying to push it out of my ribcage. :)
