Alas, it is Monday night and we still don't have power. Tonight will be night number 5 in the dark. It is starting to feel like life will be like this from now on, and I'm sure we will all be surprised at what there is to do when we can use electricity again. If you were wondering how we are able to use the computer, it is because of battery power. We charge the laptop using the generator power and then use a dial up connection to get us on the internet. (And you thought all that bing, bing, chosh noise wasn't around anymore.) Because we are using dial up none of us feel like enduring the agony of posting up pictures. Sorry! Maybe tomorrow night we will have power and our wireless connection back.
Today Mom and Dad cleaned up the yard while Naomi, Alice, and I went to the grocery store and the laundromat. It took them quite awhile to get all the branches chopped up and out by the street. Now we (and everyone else on our street that have their trees out by the street) are really hoping that someone comes along to pick them up. If they start to decompose out there I think that we should organize a neighborhood bonfire out in the street. We've bonded more with our neighbors these past 5 days then we probably ever thought possible. We let the people across the street use the generator today so they could run their freezer for a couple of hours this afternoon. The other people across the street brought us some zucchini bread that was defrosting in their freezer. :) The tree that fell down in our yarn (Boy, was that loud!) was our beloved maple tree named Tommy. (Yes, we name our trees.) He cracked right down the middle and half of him fell to the ground. Alice and I say that "my" fell to the ground but "Tom" is still standing. We shall see if the rest of him survives. It'll be so sad if the whole thing has to go. Especially for all of the shade plants that lived in Tommy's shade.
The laundromat wasn't too exciting today. It isn't the typical type of people you would normally see there. One lady told me that she hadn't been in a laundromat in 20 years. I sat and read a book and Naomi and Alice stayed for a bit and then went to run errands.
I'm sure you will all be very happy to know that we finally got mail again today. We haven't had a delivery of mail since Thursday. Personally, I thought I would have gotten more then I did, but that was just wishful thinking. Thanks for the letter Amy! The garbage men picked up trash today too! They didn't pick up the trash on Friday, and so everyone had more then usual. We didn't know they would come and it was funny to watch us and all the people on our street scramble to get out their trash.
Well, I can't think of much else to write about. The portable DVD player is charged up again, and so Alice and I will probably watch something before we fall asleep. Last night we watch part of a George Burns and Gracie Allen show. I think it was funny, but I don't really remember. I was really tired last night.

Rats. If I had written you a letter, I would have gotten recognized on your blog. Haha. ;)
